All participants will receive a Purdue Baseball T-shirt and lunch each day.
All registered baseball players will particpate in a unique camp that will provide an opporutnity to learn from the Purdue Baseball coaching staff and a select group of college and high school coaches from around the country. Each player will receive instruction through one-on-one participation and small group work.
Youth baseball players have the opporutnity to participate in baseball games on the newly renovated FieldTurf in the Mollenkopf Athletic Center. Baseball players will also particpate in hitting drills, defensive stations and full infield and outfield practice before or after their games.
Games will be played with live pitching and a full infield and outfield. Consistent instruction, umpires and base coaches will provide an opportunity to youth baseball players not normally available throughout Indiana and the surrounding region. Campers will grouped by age and ability level to ensure maximum instruction and safety throughout the camp.
Players will participate in drills and teaching sessions that help them understand the fundamental skills that are used at each
position.
Hitting stations will cover topics such as proper stance, weight transfer and point-of-contact.
- Hitting drills will make use of Purdue's two, full-length indoor batting cages and hitting nets.
- Pitching and throwing drills will cover areas like balance, delivery mechanics and grip techniques.
- Pitching and throwing drills will use a full-sized infield along with indoor pitching mounds and balance beams.
Defensive work will cover topics involving proper fielding position, footwork and glove positioning.
Lunch
Lunch will be provided to registered baseball players on each day of camp. Parents, family and friends are welcome to eat lunch with the coaches and players but must provide their own lunch. Although every effort will be made to accomodate any food allergies it may be necessary to provide your own lunch should we not be able to meet your dietary needs.
